A survey conducted on online shopping in 2020 in Indonesia found that there has been an increase in grocery spend per trip that amounted to more than 250 thousand Indonesian Rupiah after the large scale social restriction, or PSBB, was imposed in the country. Respondents stated that they have increased the amount of items they purchase in order to stock up and minimize exposure.

PSBB stands for pembatasan sosial berskala besar or large scale social restrictions. Measures such as closures, travel limitations and restrictions were enforced as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For most areas, PSBB was enforced from April or May 2020.
