Population of Africa 2020, by region

As of 2020, Eastern Africa was the region with the largest population in Africa, with around 445 million inhabitants. On the contrary, Southern Africa was the least-populous area and counted approximately 68 million people. In 2021, the total population of the African continent exceeded 1.36 billion.
