Major coastal cargo movements of prefectures in Japan FY 2022
In the fiscal year 2022, the flow of coastal freight from Hokkaido Prefecture to Hokkaido Prefecture in Japan amounted to around 8.33 million tons. Much of the highest coastal freight traffic was between prefectures with convenient access to Japan's inland sea. Yamaguchi, for example, is at the southern tip of Japan's main island Honshu and the Kanmon Straits, separating the prefecture from Fukuoka, are the gateway to the inland sea from Korea. Domestically, the coastal freight traffic amounted to about 472.38 million tons.
