As of August 2018, women in Libya claimed that the lack of security was a major challenge females faced in the labor market. This was argued by 26 percent of the surveyed female population. Other key issues faced in employment were cultural difficulties and barriers, as well as the lack of vacancies. Moreover, 16 percent of the respondents cited harassment as a significant challenge in Libya's job market.

Respondents were representative of the cities of Tripoli, Benghazi, Misrata, Sabha, Sabratha, Ajdabiya, Sirte, and Zuwara.
The methodology included both computer assisted telephone interviews (CATI) and computer assisted personal interviews (CAPI) with respondents face-to-face.
