Between 2016 and 2023, the net absorption in the data center market in the United States fluctuated. Net absorption peaked at one gigawatt in 2023, up from 751.3 megawatts in 2022. Net absorption is the capacity that was rented minus the capacity that became available during the period. 

In 2023, Northern Virginia recorded the highest net absorption among the leading markets in the United States.
