With less than three months to go before the presidential elections, the French were polled on their opinion of the issues at stake in the election campaign. Yet, when asked which of the crises the country is going through at the moment seems to them the most crucial, the social crisis comes out on top, although it is mentioned less frequently among the supporters of the right-wing parties.
Indeed, there is a clear gap between left-wing and right-wing voters on this theme. Supporters of Jean-Luc Mélenchon's party and those of the Parti Socialiste put forward the social crisis more often, while French people close to the ecologist party tend to mention the environmental crisis (more than two thirds). On the other hand, among voters of right-wing and far-right parties, it is the identity crisis that comes in first place, whether among supporters of Les Républicains (39 percent), Marine Le Pen's party, but especially among supporters of Eric Zemmour's party, of which more than three-quarters consider the identity crisis to be the most crucial.
Among the major crises that France is currently going through, which one do you think is the most crucial for future generations and for the country's future?
Characteristic
The social crisis (stagnation of purchasing power, increase of social and territorial inequalities, lack of social mobility...)
The environmental crisis (climate change, loss of biodiversity, air, water and soil pollution...)
The identity crisis (difficulties linked to the integration of foreigners, increase of immigration, loss of traditional values...)
The question was phrased by the source as follows: "Parmi les grandes crises que traverse actuellement la France, laquelle est selon vous la plus cruciale pour l’avenir des générations futures et pour l’avenir du pays ?"
