E-commerce has gained popularity among Indonesian consumers during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The rise of e-commerce in Indonesia
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has shown that traditional and modern trade remained the most preferred purchasing channels among Indonesian consumers. However, as of a recent survey finding, the pandemic has also sparked increased use of online channels, which in turn led to the growth of retail e-commerce revenue. Convenience and avoiding the spread of COVID-19 were among the leading reasons for shopping online.
New shopping habit during the COVID-19 pandemic
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has not only fueled the growth of e-commerce usage but has also encouraged Indonesian consumers to combine both online and offline shopping methods. A recent study revealed that some consumers would do online research before purchasing a product in a physical store, or vice versa. In addition, they planned to continue doing so even after the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
