Apparel and shoes production volume Thailand 2024, by type

As of April 2024, the production volume of clothing in Thailand amounted to around 8.81 million pieces. This was followed by tanned cowhide ranked second with a production volume of almost 4.45 million. In that period, clothing also led in terms of sales value of apparel and shoes in Thailand.

Thailand’s apparel industry

Thailand's apparel industry has enjoyed continual growth and success over the past years. Due to increased global trade activities, the apparel industry has significantly contributed to the country’s economic and social development. Thailand is home to more than 2,500 textile and apparel factories. Thailand is known for its highly skilled and competitive workforce and excellent apparel quality. Therefore, many well-known global brands such as Nike, Adidas, and GAP outsource their production to Thailand. In addition to its extensive textile and clothing manufacturing, Thailand is also home to one of the largest garment marketplaces and world-renowned fashion districts in the Asia-Pacific region.

Apparel exports from Thailand

Even though Thailand is not among the major textile exporting countries worldwide, clothing has the highest export volumes among major textile products in the country in recent years. However, the cost, range of products, and production scale of manufacturing apparel in Thailand are still at disadvantage when compared to those of China and Vietnam.
