Cryptocurrency ownership in Germany 2020-2023, by gender
A payments behavior survey suggests that German men were significantly more likely to buy or use cryptocurrency than women in 2023. Overall ownership was believed to be around three percent of all respondents, with a penetration rate of five percent among men. These results were first measured right before the price of Bitcoin started its steady climb towards a value of 60,000 U.S. dollars in late 2020 and early 2021. Whether figures have changed since then, or whether women have become more interested in Bitcoin or Ethereum in 2021, is not yet known.
