In anticipation of Ramadan in 2021, 86 percent of respondents from the Middle East and North Africa are planning to stay at home during Ramadan or go out once a week only this month. At the same time 46 percent of respondents from the region are planning to invite people over for the morning meal suhoor before fasting or the iftar dinner when they break their fast for the day. This might be a common tradition in the past for Ramadan, but could be challenging due to social distancing measures implemented to prevent the further spreading of the COVID-19 virus.
This year, Ramadan is expected to start by April 13th and end on May 12th with the three day festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.
