A survey conducted in July 2021 revealed that a vast majority of buyers in Hong Kong and Taiwan made their decisions between cash and cashless payments based on the value of the transaction. According to the source, consumers across all three markets would be willing to go cashless at a lower transaction value in comparison to 2020.

According to the source, the survey was conducted with 2,000 consumers living in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
For Hong Kong and Taiwan, the surveys were done using online access panels, whereas in Macao, interviews were conducted face-to-face, via street intercepts.
