According to a 2021 survey, contactless cards came in first place in terms of digital payment preference in Hong Kong and Taiwan, with respectively 33 and 30 percent of consumers for it. In the meantime, 70 percent of consumers living in Macao preferred paying using mobile QR codes. On the other hand, payment using store value cards remained the least preferred in all three surveyed regions.

According to the source, the survey was conducted with 2,000 consumers living in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
For Hong Kong and Taiwan, the surveys were done using online access panels, whereas in Macao, interviews were conducted face-to-face, via street intercepts.
