A survey conducted in August 2020 suggested that the majority of consumers living in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan preferred non-cash methods of payment. More than three-quarters of respondents in Hong Kong were in favor of cashless payment methods.

According to the source, the survey was conducted with 1,600 consumers living in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
For Hong Kong and Taiwan, the surveys were done using online access panels, whereas in Macao, interviews were conducted face-to-face, via street intercepts.
