According to a survey conducted in 2020, nearly one out of four consumers living in Hong Kong preferred paying in cash. Closely following with 18 percent, credit and debit card payment was the second most-preferred method in Hong Kong. Other forms of card payments, such as Octopus card and contactless card, were also commonly accepted, albeit to a lesser extent.
