In 2023, solar photovoltaic (PV) sources accounted for more than 19 percent of Chile's electricity generation. As of September 2024, this proportion stood at over 20 percent. Solar power has been continuously gaining space in the Chilean electricity matrix, up from a share of less than one percent in 2014. Furthermore, as of January 2023, additions to the solar PV capacity in Chile amounting to more than 33 gigawatts had been approved.
