Economic impact of violence in Libya 2010-2019
In 2019, the total economic impact of violence in Libya exceeded 34 billion U.S. dollars, adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP). This indicator measures both the direct and indirect costs of violent acts, considering the multiplier effect. From 2010 onwards, the value fluctuated, peaking at 48.44 billion U.S. dollars in 2017. The country had one of the highest economic costs of violence as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP) in North Africa in 2019, at 21 percent.
