According to a survey conducted on natural disaster prevention among mothers in Japan in February 2021, with 33.5 percent, the majority of respondents stated that they had never prepared emergency food at home. In contrast, almost 24 percent of respondents stated that they had a stock of emergency meals that would last the whole family one or two days.
Since the archipelago is situated along the Ring of Fire, an area where several tectonic plates meet, it is vulnerable to natural disasters such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
