Revenue of Ursus Breweries Romania 2014-2023

Ursus Breweries is one of the most important companies in the beer production industry in Romania. The beer producer began its activity in 1996 when South African Breweries purchased Vulturul Buzău. The company has constantly increased its revenue over the last years, peaking at over 2.67 billion Romanian lei in 2023.

In 2023, Ursus Breweries was the biggest company in the beer industry in Romania, totaling over 1.5 thousand employees. Moreover, in 2023, Ursus was also the leading company in terms of revenue. It was the only business with a revenue exceeding two billion Romanian lei.

Breweries

The first written record of a brewery in Romania dates back to 1718, when the first Timisoreana brewery was established in the country. If in 2013 there were only 12 active beer brewing companies, the number increased to 90 in 2022. Despite the beer market being dominated by Ursus, Heineken and Bergenbier, microbreweries and craft beers have also become increasingly popular over the years. In 2022 there were 82 microbreweries in the country, compared to three microbreweries in 2013.
