Number of IPOs in Africa 2011-2021
As of 2021, eight African companies went public on stock exchanges. The number of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) in the continent increased from seven in 2020, compared to a strong decline in previous years. In 2017, for instance, 30 companies sold stock shares to the public for the first time. Initial public offerings by African companies in 2021 raised a capital value of around 920 million U.s. dollars.
