In 2023, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows to South Korea reached approximately 32.72 billion U.S. dollars based on the notified amount of investment. Despite a sharp decline in FDI during the first half of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a quick recovery in the year's second half. Since 2015, FDI inflows to South Korea have consistently remained above the 20 billion U.S. dollar mark. While global FDI experienced a significant drop during the pandemic, the decrease in South Korea was relatively moderate, indicating that South Korea is a secure location for investment even in times of crisis.
