Tanzania had 28 thousand people working in the armed forces as of 2018. After decreasing from 35.4 thousand in 2000, the amount of military personnel had slight variations in the subsequent years. Furthermore, Tanzania ranked among the leading African countries for defense spending budget as of 2021.
