Landed costs for hydrogen are projected to vary between 3.5 and 3.95 U.S. dollars per kilogram of hydrogen at ports in the Unites States, the European Union, and Japan by 2030. The cheapest of transportation routes taken into account would be the route between Saudi Arabia and the EU, even tough this route was estimated to have the highest average shipping costs. Production costs were forecast to range between 1.5 and 1.7 U.S. dollars per kilogram of hydrogen.

* Production scale and transportation of 9,000 to 10,300 tons of hydrogen.
Figures are an average of minimum and maximum cost estimates and include transportation losses.
Ammonia (NH3) costs includes ammonification and cracking.
Liquid hydrogen (LH2) includes liquefaction and import terminal costs.
Liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC) includes hydrogenation and dehydrogenation costs.
** The source adds that cracking and dehydrogenation costs are: 'dependent on whether hydrogen feedstock or heat from grid is used for dehydrogenation heating requirement'.
