Necessary tools for remote work in Poland 2020

In 2020, for nearly seven out of 10 respondents in Poland, the essential tool for remote work was a stable and fast Internet connection. Furthermore, the usefulness of having cloud solutions during home office indicated every fifth respondent.  

Software and tools used during home office

    In March 2020, remote work began to be introduced in Poland due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Subsequently, companies had to adapt to this change and invest in new software and tools. Basic office software like Office 365 and conference software were among the most popular types of software companies invested in as part of their digitization implementation. Elaborating on that, Skype and MS Teams were the leading videoconference apps used by Poles. In fact, monthly Skype downloads fluctuated in the past year, peaking at nearly 94 thousand in October 2020.  

Transition to remote working

    Nearly every second company ensured a smooth transition to the home office by providing its employees the necessary tools and equipment. Another standard action taken by companies to transition to remote working was keeping employees up-to-date on the company’s state. In terms of new IT competencies acquired during the transition, Polish employees developed skills in operating communications platforms and cloud computing. However, transition to remote work also meant a decline in personal relationships developed in the traditional work environment. For that reason, online team-building activities were organized by 47 percent of companies in Poland.
