Number of drug cases zones in Nigeria 2018-2019, by zone
There was a total of 9,831 drug cases in Nigeria in 2018, scattered all over the geo-political zones with the most cases reported in the North-Western part with over 2,800 cases. The other zones averaged a total of over 1,100 cases in that year. In 2019, those numbers skyrocketed in all zones to reach more than half a million cases in the North-Central zone, over 44,000 cases in the South-West and about 12,000 both in the North-West and the South-East. In that year, the least cases were reported in the North-East zone with about 4,500 drug scenes. Shockingly, the total number of drug cases in 2019 proved to be more than 6,000 percent higher than in was in 2018.
