As of January 2020, following a club was the main reason to watch soccer in Brazil, according to a survey. It was mentioned by more than two thirds of respondents. Watching quality football matches and socializing with friends were also major reasons to follow this sport, according to around 40 percent of survey participants. At that point in time, 12 percent of Brazilian soccer fans did not follow any particular club.
