A 2019 survey of daily console gamers in the United States found that the average lifetime spend on loot boxes was higher than that of downloadable content and season passes combined. Overall, the average lifetime spending on loot boxes amounted to 217 U.S. dollars, compared to 60 U.S. dollars spent on DLC and 29 U.S. dollars spent on season passes.
