In 2020, the average debt capital raised by male-led startups that applied for but did not participate in a business accelerator was higher than the debt capital raised by female-led startups in the calendar year following their applications. Prior to the accelerator application period, male-led startups raised an average debt of about 13,100 U.S. dollars and female-led startups raised an average of about 8,800 U.S. dollars.
Although these startups did not ultimately participate in the accelerator, startups led by had women raised an average debt capital of around 17,500 U.S. dollars in the calendar year after their application, a growth of about 8,700 U.S. dollars. Average debt capital raised by male-led startups after the same period amounted to around 38,100 U.S. dollars, a growth of about 25,000 U.S. dollars.
