In 2020, the average equity raised by male-led startups that applied for, but did not participate in, a business accelerator was 2.2 times higher than the equity raised by female-led startups in the calendar year following their application. Prior to the accelerator application, male-led startups raised an average of about 26,000 U.S. dollars and female-led startups raised an average of about 11,000 U.S. dollars.
Although these startups did not ultimately participate in the accelerator, after the acceleration period startups led by had women raised an average equity of around 28,000 U.S. dollars, a growth of about 17,000 U.S. dollars. Average equity raised by male-led startups after the acceleration period amounted to just under 64,000 U.S. dollars, a growth of about 37,700 U.S. dollars.
