Startups in the transportation industry occupied approximately one half of companies participating in the GenerationS innovation development platform organized by the Russian Venture Company (RVC) in 2019. Next were energy sector startups with around one quarter of the total.

In 2013 RVC organized the first tech startup accelerator under the GenerationS brand, which immediately received a widespread response from entrepreneurs. To date the project remains as the most successful nationwide, and made it in the top-5 of the best public business accelerators in the world.
