In 2022, a total of 190 companies went public at the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in China. In the same year, the trading volume at the bourse amounted to over ten trillion shares. An important policy objective for the Chinese government was to build an independent, domestic financial market that can convince Chinese companies to list in China rather than abroad.
