Awareness of genetically modified meat in Japan 2019
Only around a quarter of consumers in Japan were aware of meat products from genetically modified livestock, according to a survey conducted in October 2019. While only about two percent of respondents claimed to have a detailed knowledge of GMO meat, more than 30 percent did not know about it at all.
