Sexual exploitation represented the most frequent form of human trafficking in Nigeria, with 931 cases reported in 2017. However, the number of cases sank to half in the following years, reaching a low of 487 in 2019. Recruitment for use in armed conflict was the least reported crime with only 27 cases in 2017 and no cases in 2018 and 2019. Cases of very low frequency were also victims of illegal adoption as well as forced marriage with less than nine cases from 2017 to 2019. More victims of human trafficking were reported in cases of forced labour, child domestic labour, child abuse, sexual abuse, and other kinds of human trafficking. The overall human trafficking ratio showed a noticeable decline from 2017 to 2019.
