In 2019, digital banking was the Mexican fintech segment with the highest growth in the number of startups. That year, the number of challengers and neobanks rose by 200 percent in relation to the previous year. In contrast, wealth management startups decreased by 20 percent in 2019. In 2021, the number of fintech users in the North American country was estimated at nearly 90 million.
