Farming products export volume in 2022, by type

Fruit ranked as the leading product among Spanish agricultural exports in 2022, with almost seven million tons exported. Inside this group, citruses were some of the most exported fruit from Spain. Vegetables and pulses, along with oil and fats, were the other leading agricultural exports from Spain. Among vegetable exports, pepper and lettuce were the leading products with a volume of over 796,000 and 715,000 metric tons, respectively.

Farmland in Spain

Arable land in Spain occupies approximately 11.3 million hectares, of which the majority is dedicated to the cultivation of wine and cereals. In 2022, Spain was one of the leading European countries in agricultural production, amounting to around 63 million euros in production, a value that has been steadily increasing throughout the years. Among the Spanish regions, Andalusia stood out as having the highest agricultural production value and the biggest cultivation surface in the country. 

Agricultural powers

Like Spain, France maintains a dominant position in agricultural production on the continent. Almost half of the land in metropolitan France was occupied for agricultural purposes, which include the cultivation of cereals, grasslands, and various oleo-protein crops.
