Total primary energy production in South Africa 2005-2021
In 2021, the total primary energy production in South Africa amounted to approximately 5.3 quadrillion British thermal units, the equal value from the preceding year. In the period under review, South Africa produced its highest amount of energy in 2014 at 5.96 quadrillion Btu. Energy production fluctuated between 5.66 quadrillion Btu in 2005/06 and 5.96 quadrillion Btu in 2014. Moreover, total primary energy consumption was higher than production, at 5.42 quadrillion Btu in 2021.
