Change in bicycle use in France 2019-2020, by urban area
Between 2019 and 2020, bicycle use in urban areas increased by 12 percent. There was less variation in sub-urban and rural areas. Indeed, traffic increased by only 2 percent in rural areas. However, during periods outside the containment due to the COVID-19 virus, the rate jumped in all areas with an increase of more than 30 percent in bicycle traffic in urban area.
