The source defines ASPSPs as "Account Servicing Payment Service Providers provide and maintain a payment account for a payer as defined by the PSRs and, in the context of the Open Banking Ecosystem are entities that publish Read/Write APIs to permit, with customer consent, payments initiated by third party providers and/or make their customers’ account transaction data available to third party providers via their API end points."

The source added the following information "Successful API calls are based on data submitted by account providers (ASPSPs) to Open Banking. May-July 2018 includes data from 8 providers. August 2018 onwards includes data from 9 providers and 16 brands in total. In June 2019, the number of brands increased to 17. In July 2019 this increased to 18 brands. Since May 2020 we have 19 brands. Account providers (ASPSPs) are currently made up of the following banks, building societies and sub brands: Allied Irish Bank, Bank of Ireland, Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Cater Allen, Danske, First Direct, First Trust Bank, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, Marks & Spencer, MBNA, Nationwide, NatWest, Santander, The Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and Ulster Bank.
