Khan Academy tops the list of e-learning resources
Following the Coronavirus pandemic and resulting lockdown in many parts of the world, many have turned to the internet in order to learn new skills. A worldwide survey conducted in March 2020 shortly after the onset of the pandemic found that the most popular e-learning resource was non-profit Khan Academy, with over 100 million website visits monthly. This was followed by the language learning platform Duolingo and online course provider Coursera. It turns out that the biggest purchasers of e-learning material in Great Britain were consumers aged 16 to 24 years old, according to a survey conducted in 2019. On top of this, learning new skills was cited as a top factor by young adults in helping them deal with their mental wellbeing during the lockdown.
Impact of COVID-19 on online retail
The value of internet retail in the UK skyrocketed from February 2020 in direct response to the onset of the Coronavirus pandemic. In November that year online sales demonstrated an impressive 79.6 percent growth, reaching an all-time high. Despite this, the internet retail sector hit the hardest by the pandemic has been online food ordering. A survey run in May 2020 found that over 30 percent of respondents had stopped ordering food online completely while a further 22 percent said they had reduced their ordering frequency. Meanwhile, online grocery shopping has seen growth. Here, over a third of respondents claimed they had begun to shop more for groceries online as a direct result of the pandemic.
