In 2019, Portugal's leading furniture retailer was IKEA, registering a revenue of 478 million revenues in the country. Conforama followed, with 128 million euros in revenues. Conforama, initially a French company, was sold to Steinhoff International in 2011, a South African-German-Dutch international retail holding company that deals mainly in furniture and household goods. In 2019, Steinhoff International was among Europe's top furniture retailers based on revenue.
