China produced a total of 1,240 bullet trains in 2023. The output peaked in June with 360 units whereas October saw the lowest production with only one unit. In March 2024, the figure stood at 48 units. As the growth of China's high-speed rail network slowed since 2020, demand for bullet trains began to decline simultaneously.

Bullet trains refer to a series of high-speed electric multiple unit (EMU) trains, which was renamed to "Fuxing Hao" on June 25, 2017. Current models of EMUs have maximum operating speeds of 160, 250 and 350 km/h.
