In 2020, the number of sanitary and phytosanitary trade measures applied by the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region reached almost 1.7 thousand, compared to 651 measures in 2000. Restrictive trade rules in the region were slowing investment efforts and complicating logistical factors.
