According to a survey among private financial institutions in Japan, around 73.6 percent of new housing loans granted to individuals in the fiscal year 2022 were directed at financing new homes. Around 5.9 percent of new loans were issued for the purpose of refinancing housing loans.

Pre-owned homes: housing loans granted to individuals for the purchase of second-hand homes.

Survey forms were mailed to organizations. Completed forms were collected through the Inter-Ministry Information System for Official Statistics or by mail, etc.
Figures prior to fiscal year 2019 come from previous reporting.
