In a survey conducted in July 2021 in Japan, 37 percent of respondents stated that they wanted to see the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games on live broadcast. Men's soccer, men's swimming and women's swimming tied for second place on the most anticipated events among the Japanese viewership at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
