Central wholesale market vendor number in Japan FY 2013-2022
In fiscal year 2022, around 155 wholesalers were selling products at central wholesale markets in Japan. This represented a decrease compared to 180 vendors registered in fiscal 2013.
Central wholesale markets refer to wholesale markets operating under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in Japan. One of the most successful central markets was the Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, which was the largest wholesale market for fish and seafood in the country prior to its closure and relocation.
