More than 510,000 heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) were registered in the United Kingdom in 2021. Almost a quarter of this number occurred in the segment of vehicles over 41 metric tons, which has been the leading weight class for HGVs since 2017. The leading segment was followed by the category of vehicles weighing between eight and 18 metric tons, which made up around 21 percent of registrations in 2021.
