Number of riots recorded in Africa 2000-2023
As of January 13, 2021, 102 new riots had been recorded in Africa. In 2021, 3,964 of such events were reported in the continent, which was the highest value within the period examined. Furthermore, between 2000 and 2010, cases of riots in Africa remained below 400, so that the increase from 2011 onwards represented a huge growth.
