Nigeria: military expenditure as share of GDP 2020

Between 2008 and 2020, Nigeria's expenditure on military remained stable at around 0.5 percent of the country's GDP. In 2020, the military spending amounted to 0.63 percent of the gross domestic product, showing an increase compared to the previous year. Countries worldwide spend on average 2.2 percent of their GDP on defense. The highest military spending in proportion to GDP is recorded by Saudi Arabia and Israel. In absolute value, the United States and China are the countries with the highest military spending in the world.
