Lombardy is by far the main exporting region of Italy. In 2019, this Northern region held 26.7 percent of the total export value from Italy. Emilia-Romagna and Veneto followed with 13.9 percent and 13.5 percent of the total value, respectively. Overall, countries of the European Union are among the main trading partners, regarding both imports and exports.
