As of September 2020, 74 percent of Indonesian respondents who belonged to the upper class were willing to pay for the COVID-19 vaccination if it was available. Indonesia, which has recorded over one million coronavirus cases, started its vaccine rollout on Jan 13, 2021, with the president Joko Widodo being the first recipient. In December 2020, Indonesia decided to offer free COVID-19 vaccines for its citizens.
