As of August 2020, around 58 percent of mentions to WhatsApp Pay found on social media in Brazil were negative reactions to the app's peer-to-peer money transfer feature. Meanwhile, approximately five percent of social media mentions contained doubts about WhatsApp's mobile payment tool. Practically all smartphone owners surveyed in Brazil in 2020 had WhatsApp installed on their mobile devices.
